AtlasMobile SDK
Overview AtlasMobile™ Software Development Kit (SDK) is a rich package designed for quick building of mobile applications. The SDK is a client side set of advanced components, which implements a variety of mapping and location-based capabilities. The development package has a modular functionality structure enabling high flexibility in application development. It is the development tool of the AtlasMobile platform. AtlasMobile SDK is implemented in various development environments for better adaptation to customers unique requirements. It is available as separate products for Windows® and Java™ developers.
The AtlasMobile SDK Java version utilizes the Java Micro Edition (ME) platform. Java ME is a collection of Java APIs for the development of software for resource-constrained devices such as PDAs and cell phones. Applications based on AtlasMobile SDK Java version can run on mobile devices which support Java ME and are Internet enabled. Java ME is the most wide spread platform adopted by all major mobile phone vendors worldwide. More than 1.2 Billion devices worldwide (8 of every 10 mobile handsets) are shipped with Java (source: Ovum, 2007). AtlasMobile SDK Java version is offered in two edition types: Light edition and Full edition to suite consumers particular needs. The Light edition is targeted to the low-end mobile devices market. The Full edition is targeted to the high-end mobile devices market. Both editions provide the same functionality. The AtlasMobile SDK Windows version utilizes the .NET™ Compact Framework (CF) platform. .NET CF is a hardware-independent environment which enables development of applications optimized for handheld devices such as Pocket PCs and smart phones. Applications based on AtlasMobile SDK Windows version can run on mobile devices which support Windows Mobile® and are Internet enabled. Applications built by .NET CF provide the familiar Windows desktop look and feel display to pages and forms. Development by .NET CF reduces time to market by 50 percent compared to alternative development environments (source: Microsoft, 2005).
