AtlasMobile™ Platform
Overview AtlasMobile™ platform provides geospatial capabilities for mobile devices such as cellular phones and smart phones. It enables developing applications, displaying maps, performing geographic queries and other location based functionality. The AtlasMobile platform overcomes mobile devices limitations of small screen dimensions, limited memory capacity and low data rate transfer; it manages to present a high performing mapping system for the mobile market.
The AtlasMobile platform is an off-board platform which means the geospatial data is streamed to the mobile device by a map server via the Internet. An off-board platform has several advantages over an on-board platform. In an on-board platform the geospatial data is stored on the mobile device. These advantages include updated data, online information, no memory limitation, only the required data is downloaded and easy addition of new features or services. The global trend is moving towards off-board platforms due to reduced prices and better functionality (source: GEO connexion Magazine, 2006).
AtlasCT is a pioneer in developing off-board platforms for mobile devices, using sophisticated streaming vector technology, innovative vector compression methods and advanced rendering algorithms.
The platform is implemented in various development environments for better adaptation to customers unique requirements.
It is available as separate platforms for Windows® and Java™ applications.
Implementation in additional development environments is available upon customers demand.
AtlasMobile platform incorporates high performance in displaying enhanced geographic information on small size screen devices with a rich SDK functionality for easy and quick application integration. It communicates with the AtlasNET™ map server for retrieving of the requested geospatial data.
The AtlasMobile platform offers a complete solution for network operators, handset vendors and other businesses who want to integrate mapping and location based applications on mobile devices to enhance the services portfolio offered to their customers.
The platform utilizes unique and innovative technologies which reduce dramatically (by more then 85%) the size of the mapping data transmitted to the mobile device, enabling faster map navigation and improved user experience.
